Jordan's email today....he now has 111 days until he comes home!!!  We can't wait for that day!

Hey there everyone. So, its been a really good time here in Jutiapa. Just like when I was back in Catocha something always goes wrong in the house. Back in Catocha we didn’t have water for some days. Now here in Jutiapa we don’t have any power. We lost our power Saturday night and we still don’t have anything. Kind of crazy but that’s the life of the mission right haha. Loving it here. Its been kind of hard with the work not going to lie. The missionary’s here before us didn’t do anything with the area book and they left us with nothing to work with. So, we have been contacting like crazy trying to find some people. It really sucks… so for all you who read my emails and are planning to go on a mission please write in the area book to help the next missionary’s that will show up after you. It will be a big help. So anyways we have been contacting a lot we haven’t been seeing the most fruits. Its hard you know I have 20 months and its still hard sometimes. I’ve been here in the mission for a long time, but I still have my hard times. so, if you think I’m as hard as a rock or you think that missionary work is easier for me. in the mission you will always have times where it seems really easy but there are more times where its harder. But that’s the nice thing about the mission. There is a little bit of everything.

So, this area has been really interesting. I remember when president said to me that I was going to be training. He told me that I was going out here to Jutiapa to reopen the area because it was it needed help. And I didn’t understand why but I was like okay cool. But Now that I have been here for a little bit and I have talked to the members its because the missionaries here before didn’t do anything. The members where not very big fans of the missionary’s that were here so they were all happy that there was changes here in the area. As well I know a lot of the members here in this area. There is one member that met me a long time ago and when he first seen me he was like, Wow elder your Spanish has gotten a lot better. it made me laugh because it makes me see that there are people that still remember me from about 20 months ago. Kind of cool.

As well we had an activity here where we had all the youth from all the areas close by here come to Jutiapa. so, I heard that my first area was going to be coming here. The youth in Catocha was probably one of the best things I remember from that area. It was really cool because when I walked into the church I seen one of kids sitting there. and when he looked up he was like hey man where have you been_ It was cool because the kids from Catocha that would come out on visits with us were all there. It was really great to see that they still had that drive to help and do missionary work. It was always great to see all my old friends.

So that was pretty much the week here in Jutiapa. Working hard and doing the best we can here in the middle of no where haha. Its really really hot out here. But I’m loving it. Hope you all have a great week and that everything goes well. Love you all.

03 May 2018

Hey there everyone

So this last week was pretty normal. On Friday we had our interviews with President Shumway and it was a really weird interview. He got all of us out and talked to the whole zone. He told us that he didn’t want to talk about the people we had ready to be baptized that week. He told us that he was so happy to see the zone nimajuyu do such a great job with the missionary work. Something that hasn’t been done for a long time here in the zone. So as a zone leader you can say I am very happy to see all the work that the zone is doing right now. It’s great because we have a zone that is still really young. We have some great missionary’s that want to work really hard. The only thing is that we don’t have the experience with what do after we have a lot of baptisms. We as zone met our goal of 9 baptisms this month. It was something really great for the zone and for the missionary’s. For me its something I have never seen get done. All the zones I have been in we have never meet the goal for baptisms in the month. Now there have been some zones where we got close and there were other when we weren’t even close. So when I was able to see that we met the goal and that we were apart of that was something really great. The nice thing was to see that president noticed our hard work we put in this last month.

So we had another baptism this past week and it was a great way to end the month. His name is Guillermo, He has been listening to the elders for a while and he wanted to get baptized the only thing was his mom didn’t give him permission to get baptized. So we were working super hard with that and trying everything. Until one night he called us and said that his real dad wanted to call and talk with us. The reason we had to call his dad is because he leaves pretty far away from here. So we gave him a call one night and we talked over the phone and he said if we believe that he is ready that it was okay. So we got the go ahead! It was really great to see him get baptized tho. I know he will be a great member in the church and hopefully one day go on a mission.

So as a zone we did great with all the goals this past month. It wasn’t just the baptism goal we met. We met every goal except the goal of investigators in church. We tried really hard to meet every goal but we came up short. So we know can see as a zone that there is something’s we need to improve and we know that we can meet the goals. We just need to work as hard as we can and we can see the great things that can come from everything. Like i said before I’m really happy with the zone. Everyone did a great job. I will see where president will move me this coming change tho. He told me that he is very impressed with the changes that we have made here in the zona nimajuyu in the interviews. But he also said Elder Nelson I don’t know what the lord will do with you but we will see what will happen. Now the last time he said that to me I became a district leader the following change. So I don’t know what president will do with me this coming change. But we will see what will happen right haha

So last pday we went bowling as a zone and it was a really good time. The only thing was the bowling ally was right next to a movie theater. Where it had all the new movie posters. And a giant poster for the new avangers movie. It was probably one of the baggiest moments in my whole mission. Because we all know i love movies and when i seen that it just destoryed me haha but only 4 more months until i can watch it.

But that was my week here in the mission. Time is just flying by now and I’m getting closer and closer to the end, which is really scary. But that’s the way life is right. But anyways thanks for all the support and love you always give me here in the mission hope you all have a great week and i hope its warming up there for you guys back home haha Have a good one!

Love
Elder Nelson
